Markael Studio does not collect personal or device data through Three Apples. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Settings, completed-story history, and downloaded stories are stored on your device and are not sent to us.
About this policy
This policy covers Three Apples: Armenian Tales, the iPhone and iPad app provided by Markael Studio for children and families. No account or sign-in is required.
This policy also covers the Android version, available on Google Play from Markael Studio. Sections labelled “On Android” describe that version. The iPhone and iPad practices are described in their respective sections.
Third-party analytics
The app contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It sends no analytics events, user identifiers, device identifiers, or reading activity to Markael Studio or an analytics provider.
On Android: the app also has no crash-reporting tools. Markael Studio collects no personal data through the Android app.
Third-party advertising
The app contains no advertising, advertising SDKs, or ad networks. No information is collected or used for advertising.
On Android: the app does not use the advertising ID.
Sharing data with third parties
We do not sell or share app users’ personal data or reading activity. We do not operate a backend database of users or their activity, and we do not upload reading preferences or history to third-party servers.
On iPhone and iPad: Apple provides purchases, restoration, and story downloads through its own services, as explained below. Apple handles information for those services under its own privacy policy.
On Android: Google Play provides purchases, subscription checks, and tale downloads. Its libraries communicate with Google as described in “On Android: Google Play services” below; this is separate from the reading history and settings kept on your device.
On iPhone and iPad: information on your device
Markael Studio does not collect personal or device data through the app for analytics, advertising, or any other purpose. The information below is used on the device for the app’s features; it is not uploaded to us.
The app saves settings such as menu language, text size, highlighting, and sound preferences to remember your choices. It stores completed-story identifiers and completion dates to suggest unread stories, and keeps downloaded stories on the device for reading and playback. Markael Studio does not receive or have access to these settings, records, or downloads.
Device backups, if enabled, are managed by Apple under your device and Apple Account settings and may include app data under Apple’s policies. Markael Studio does not operate a cloud backup or sync service.
Voice recordings
Starting with version 3.1, a parent or another grown-up can record themselves reading a tale aloud, so the child can listen to the tale in that familiar voice. This feature is part of the subscription.
- When the microphone is used: only after a grown-up opens the settings for grown-ups (behind the parental gate), chooses a tale in "Your recordings" and taps Record. The app asks iOS for microphone permission the first time Record is tapped, never when the app opens. Permission can be turned off at any time in the device's Settings.
- Where recordings are kept: only on the device they were made on, inside the app's own storage.
- Never sent anywhere: recordings are never uploaded or shared with Markael Studio or anyone else. We cannot access them. The app has no analytics or advertising.
- Not included in backups: to protect your privacy, recordings are excluded from iCloud backups and computer backups. A new or restored device starts without them.
- Processed on the device: noise reduction and the word highlighting that follows your voice are done on the device itself.
- If the subscription ends: recordings stay on the device but no longer play, until the subscription is active again or they are deleted.
- Deleting recordings: delete one tale's recording in "Your recordings" (swipe left, or tap Edit), delete everything with "Delete All Recordings" at the bottom of the settings for grown-ups (available with or without a subscription), or delete the app, which deletes all its recordings.
Because recordings never leave the device, Markael Studio does not collect them, and the app's App Store privacy label remains "Data Not Collected".
On iPhone and iPad: Apple services
Apple provides app distribution, subscription purchases and restoration through StoreKit, and story downloads through Apple-hosted Background Assets. Subscription entitlements are checked on the device using StoreKit. Markael Studio does not receive your name, email address, or payment details from these transactions. The app also checks the App Store for newer versions of Three Apples; no information about you or your family is sent.
Downloads, purchases, restoration, and some subscription checks require communication with Apple. Apple handles information for its services under its own privacy policy.
On Android: device storage and deletion
Reading progress (which tales you have finished, used to suggest unread tales), settings such as text size, highlighting, reading and menu language, which “What’s new” notices you have seen, and downloaded tales are stored only on your device. Tales can be read and heard in Armenian, English, and Russian. The app also stores the time of the last successful subscription check so it can apply the 14-day offline rule. None of this information is sent to Markael Studio.
Android backup is turned off for the app, so its local app data is not copied to Google backups. Uninstalling the app deletes this data. Markael Studio has no server copy to retrieve or delete and provides no cloud backup or sync service.
You can delete downloaded subscription tales in Parents → Tales on this device. They remain in the library to download again while you have access. Uninstalling the app does not cancel an automatically renewing subscription; manage it separately through Google Play.
On Android: Google Play services
Purchases and subscriptions use Google Play Billing. The app asks Google Play whether a subscription is active and receives the purchase status. Markael Studio does not receive your payment details. Subscription tales are downloaded from Google Play through Play Asset Delivery, Google’s app-download service.
Google Play Billing and Play Asset Delivery communicate with Google and may send Google technical information about their operation. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. The app itself has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash reporting.
The Android app connects to the internet only for Google Play purchases, subscription checks, and downloads, and to open website links a parent chooses in Parents. Visits to our website are covered separately by our website and contact privacy policy. Connection checks happen locally on the device and are not sent to Markael Studio.
Downloaded subscription tales can be read offline while access is active, but the subscription must be confirmed with Google Play at least once every 14 days. The two free, built-in tales work offline without a subscription.
On Android: permissions
The app uses internet and network-state permissions to reach Google Play and check whether the device is online, Google Play billing permission for purchases, and a background service used by Google Play while installing a downloaded tale. Google’s download library also uses Android’s background-task permissions: a wake lock and permission to start after the device restarts.
It does not request permission to access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or files. Downloaded tales and the app’s own settings remain in its private storage on the device.
Children’s privacy
Children can use the app without providing a name, email address, or other personal information. Purchases, settings, and external links are accessed through the grown-ups’ area behind a parental gate.
Website contact options are intended for parents, guardians, and other adults. Please do not send children’s names, photos, or other personal information when requesting support.
On Android: the app is made for children and is designed to follow Google Play’s Families Policy. Purchases, settings, deleting downloads, and outside links are behind a parental gate: a multiplication question written in words, with the numbers shown below them.
On iPhone and iPad: retention and deletion
Settings and completed-story records remain on the device until the app is deleted. Downloaded subscription stories can be removed in Parents → Tales on this device. Deleting the app, rather than offloading it, removes its local app data. Apple-managed backups are controlled separately through your device and Apple Account settings.
Because Markael Studio does not receive your settings or reading history, we have no server copy to retrieve or delete. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; manage or cancel subscriptions separately through your Apple Account.
Support correspondence
If an adult independently contacts us, we receive their email address and the information they choose to send, solely to respond to their request. This correspondence is separate from app usage and is covered by our website and contact privacy policy. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing studio@markael.com.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change, we will update this policy and its date. Where a change requires consent, we will seek it before collecting the relevant data.
